What makes The Mamaya Way different?
This 15 hour foundational training was built working through the values of accessibility, inclusivity, healing justice, and collaboration.
Our foundational training provides a roadmap of treatment with techniques and interventions to address a variety of needs throughout the perinatal period.
We have included Mamaya Way Training Workbook for each module to ensure easy access to a variety of exercises, worksheets, activities, and client facing resources for your work with the perinatal population.
Module 1:Â 2.5 hrs
This introductory module will provide an overview of research, statistics, and important factors for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). We will walk through the hormonal experiences in pregnancy and postpartum and identify challenges of the life transition into parenthood.
Module 2: 3.5 hrs
This module we will dive into Measurement Based Care and screening tools that are helpful with the perinatal population. We will review perinatal diagnoses and discuss symptoms and differential diagnosis. We will also discuss psychopharmacology as it relates to pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation.Â
Module 3: 5.5 hrs
Module 3 is where we really get to work! This module we will identify therapeutic modalities and treatment options for PMADs.We will share approaches and specific tools. We will also identify challenges and treatment options to support perinatal grief and loss and perinatal crisis, including suicidality, self-harm, psychosis, and domestic violence.
Module 4: 3.5 hrs - 1.5 hrs ethics, 2 hrs cultural competency
Our final module will help you to understand ethical considerations when treating PMADS. We will also discuss cultural differences and important considerations when supporting various populations, including treating BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and perinatal clients with disabilities, as well as perinatal clients with eating disorders, substance use disorders, veterans, adolescents, and partners.
